Welcome!

Welcome to my little place on the interwebs. My name is Steve, and i’m a game & pinball addict. (God, that sounds like an opening line from an AA-meeting. Oh well.) Not only do i like to play pinball and arcade games, i also like to repair and restore them. That’s what this blog is all about.

Special Delivery

Look what the nice postman brought me:

Removing the mylar from the playfield right now. Freezespray method isn’t working really well because there are a lot of small cracks in the mylar. Going to try with label/sticker remover next.

ROCK: Sound works!

Ahh yes. The sound of 80′s synthy beats and fake synthguitars. Magnificent :)

Quick video:

Now, to strip the playfield, get it airbrushed and rebuild it again.

ROCK: Displays working!

Cleaned the contacts of the display, and now it’s working.
It’s pretty crisp, considering it’s about 26 years old.

Here’s a little video i shot of the display:

And here’s another video, showing the playfield.

Free Pinball machine

Tagged Under : , , ,

Around newyear’s i got a free Pinball machine from my brother-in-law.
It’s a 1985 Rock by Gottlieb and initially got it “for parts”.
The playfield is worn and it “wasn’t working” according to the previous owner.
However, as i’m very curious, i tried powering it on at first.

The MPU LED would turn on, as would the GI. Nothing else.
Inspected the fuses, and sure enough, a few of them were blown, and others were replaced with copperwire.
Replaced all the fuses with new ones. At this point, i didn’t know what to expect, but we did have attractmode!

As i feel this “junker” cabinet could have a second life and i hate destroying pinball and arcade machines, i’m going to do a full restoration & shop job.
You may call me crazy now.
